For men's shorts, use your waist measurement as the primary sizing reference. Hip/seat measurement can help with fitted styles, while inseam determines how long the shorts sit on the leg.

Shorts Length / Inseam

Shorts may also be described by their inseam:

Actual appearance depends on the wearer's height and the shorts' rise.

How to Measure

Waist: Measure around the area where you normally wear your shorts. Keep the tape level and comfortably snug.

Hips / Seat: Measure around the fullest part of your hips and seat.

Inseam: Measure from the crotch seam down the inside of the leg to the desired hem.

Choosing the Right Size

Slim Fit — closer through the seat and thighs.
Regular Fit — balanced fit with comfortable room.
Relaxed / Loose Fit — provides additional room through the seat and thighs.

For elastic-waist or drawstring shorts, the waistband may accommodate a wider range of waist measurements.

If you fall between sizes, choose the larger size for greater comfort or the smaller size for a closer fit when the fabric has sufficient stretch.

Men's shorts sizing is not completely standardized between brands. Rise, fabric stretch, waistband construction, cut, and intended fit can all affect sizing.

Use waist as the primary reference, with hips/seat and inseam as additional fit checks.
